I am passionate about our ever changing and evolving world, and working to make it better. I believe technology drives progress – technology with heart and soul. I believe our planet and our species is going through a massive transition together, as big as moving from hunter-gather to agrarian or from agrarian to industrialized. Maybe bigger. And to do that successfully I believe we need to bring consciousness, compassion, and relationship into our technological innovation.
Who is My Ideal Client?
I love working with intelligent, driven, free spirited men who value individual freedom as well as the greater good. I specialize in seeing where you hold yourself back and giving compassionate, targeted feedback, challenge, and support in order to create space for a more powerful version of you to emerge.

I help creative, intelligent, industrious, entrepreneurially minded men get out of their own way so they can build the career, relationships, and lifestyle they truly want. With degrees in chemical engineering (BS, Colorado School of Mines, 1994), engineering and technology management (MS, CSM, 2002), and transpersonal counseling psychology (MA, Naropa University, 2010) I have:
- A dozen years of experience as an engineer and manager in the corporate world.
- Over a decade as a psychotherapist, men’s coach, and couple’s therapist.
- 25 years in marriage and more than fifteen years as a parent.
- Hundreds of hours of training with Duey Freeman in Gestalt therapy, Ron Kurt in his Hakomi therapy, Stan Tatkin in his Psychobiological Approach to Couples Therapy (PACT), and in Sue Johnson’s Emotionally Focused Therapy, as well as training under Dr. Gene Woolsey in his Industrial Psychology program and Mines.
I have a talent for:
- Quickly connecting to, relating with, and understanding of my clients.
- Penetrating surface level issues to discover their deeper obstacles and mis-alignments.
- Offering clear, direct, and compassionate feedback that helps shift perspectives, creating opportunity for new ways of showing up.
- Catalyzing and supporting growth, change, and transformation.
I see too many men full of talents, skills, creativity, and potential, who can’t seem to get out of their own way and break through their own self-imposed limitations and achieve the success, satisfaction and fulfillment they deserve. Spinning their wheels, they seem very busy, and often reasonably successful, but they know deep down that something is missing and they are capable of more. And that stuck point, that plateau, creates stagnation across the board of the game of life. When one area of life becomes stagnant and congested, it can spread through our whole life, knocking us out of kilter and leading to slew of problems in other areas.
As a coach, I’ve seen how a solid working relationship, an insightful analysis of the situation, and clear, direct and compassionate feedback can change lives. Men see, and experience, where they get in their own way. They develop the awareness and the tools to navigate these stuck points and work with others. And they learn new ways of showing up in the world, with their coworkers and peers, customers, employees, bosses, intimate partners, close relations, family and friends. Moving through obstacles and learning to get out of your own way and learning how to better relate to others can change everything and create space for genuine personal satisfaction, contentment, and happiness.
I believe that technology, innovation, and entrepreneurship drives the progress and evolution of the human species and thus the planet. I believe a good head in resonance with a good heart inside a healthy body creates the most beneficial progress. And I believe that good working relationships lead to change, growth, and transformation. I believe we are designed with an innate need to change, grow, and transform, and as one of us grows and develops, we all grow and develop. A rising tide raises all ships.
I’m also a geek at heart. A passionate nerd. And I tend to understand, “resonate”, and “click” well with other geeks, nerds and heady, technical folk. With a lifelong fascination with entrepreneurship and all the freedom, creativity, and passion that it allows for, I thrive in creating and building my own business which often thrives in creating and growing other’s businesses.
At some level, I suspect that we all have a calling into our own unique hero’s journey into happiness, contentment, and personal satisfaction. As scary as it can seem, it’s really as simple as stepping out your comfort zone and moving into a place of uncertainty and unfamiliarity, learning and growing into this new place, and then returning back to your comfort zone where you can share what you have learned with the world. This journey can seem overwhelming, but it need not be. You learn to go at your own pace, and that it’s ok to take time for rest and recovery, but that it also takes commitment and courage.
